Snider School of Music

Currently teaching at the newly renovated Snider School Of Music at 3225 Yonge Street in Toronto Ontario with availability from Saturdays to Thursdays. 

 

Specializing in one on one private instruction for Acoustic, Electric, Twelve String Guitar as well as Blues Mandolin. Working with the student ensembles is also a great way to learn in a group setting. 

 

With over twenty years teaching experience and a student base that ranges from pre teens to semi retirement. Learning while having fun is encouraged and treat music as a way of relaxing and winding down. You will learn Music Theory but more importantly how it relates to the Guitar Fretboard and how it can strenthen your understanding of songs and the mechanics of how music works. 

 

 

Private Lessons

Studio lessons are geared to the students musical preference.

 

For students that are picking up an instrument for the first time, learning would start with straight forward chord diagrams, finger placement, holding the pick and graduating to moving from chord to chord with no pauses in between each chord change developing a good sound. 

 

As my student, you will have access to a wide range of music transcriptions from beginner to advanced to assist with the learning experience. Students are encouraged to bring in their own music, CD's or DVD's as specialty material is an excellent way to learn.  

 

I welcome all students to record sessions for documentation and learning retention.

Lessons at Home 
Group Ensembles
 

 The Ensembles are made up of three or four students with similar musical tastes. Students choose three songs and with my guidance we discuss harmonies and improvisation working on the arrangements to compliment the group.  This is an excellent way to have fun, learn basic skills and to play with other musicians. 

 

Group ensemble classes perform at the music recitals that take place four times a year.

These photos were all taken by Norman Height at the student recitals at Rocky Racoon's on Yonge St. The current recitals will be at Milagro on 3187 Yonge Street. A number of videos on site were done there. Thanks to Norman and all the students who helped make these recitals a lot of fun. A bigger thank you goes out to all the familys and the people who did not perform but who helped us make music truly a community event.
